Everything we know about the new Star Wars Outlaws Game

The announcement of the first ever open world Star Wars game earlier this year stirred a lot of excitement within the fandom, however since then there hasn’t been much discussion. Today we will be discussing everything we know about the game so far.

Star Wars Outlaws is made by Ubisoft, a gaming company known for their work on the Assassin’s Creed series. In this game you play as Kay Vess (voiced by Humberly Gonzalez), a scoundrel in the outer Rim. You are accompanied by your adorable companion Nix.

The game takes place sometime between Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, against the backdrop of the Empire’s ongoing war against the Rebel Alliance. The main story involves Kay attempting to pull off one of the biggest heists in Outer Rim History, all while outmaneuvering large crime organizations like the Hutts and the Pyke Syndicate. She is hoping to use the money that she makes from this heist to start a new and better life for herself.

In terms of game play, Outlaws has loads to offer. Being an open world game, Outlaws has many different ways you can navigate it. You can stealth your way through missions or barge through the front doors blasters blazing. You can hop on a speeder at anypoint and explore the numerous and diverse outer rim towns. If you make some enemies within the town, no worries, you can hop on your spaceship, the Trailblazer, and jump into hyperspace away from there. Outlaws features a full reputation and wanted system which is influenced by your decisions in missions and your actions in open world areas. If you piss some people off there’s a serious chance you’ll regret it.

As of now the game is tentatively set for release in 2024 however Ubisoft and the developers have yet to give us a more specific window.. We know that it will be released for PC, PS5, and Xbox.

Here’s what creative director Julian Gerighty has to say on Outlaws:

"When we first imagined the first open-world Star Wars game, we explored where and when it could take place, and quickly realized that we had all the right ingredients for the journey of a scoundrel. These outlaws live life under the thumb of the Galactic Empire, but can still thrive given the opportunities that the criminal underworld opens up for people looking to take advantage of the turmoil. The time is ripe for a new outlaw to make their name, and Kay Vess is written in the stars."
