Star Wars Outlaws Reviews are in: Should you buy this Highly Anticipated Game?
Star Wars: Outlaws was arguably one of the most anticipated games of this season, and to say it has been a bit of a let down would not be an overstatement. People expected this massive and infinitely expansive Star Wars open world game and what they got was a buggy, relatively small game, with a mediocre story pacing and pretty bad combat mechanics. Needless to say, it was a flop.
The game released on August 30th of this year and did not make nearly the bang it was expecting. Harsh early reviews left sales wanting for more. Ubisoft’s stock has been falling all year and Star Wars: Outlaws was expected to turn the fate of the company around, but it has so far failed to do so.
Some of the biggest criticisms of the game have to do with the game mechanics as a whole being really frustrating as a player. The lock picking mini game is incredibly aggravating, the blasters and speeder bikes are horrible to use, and the combat is monotonous at best.
However, in its defense, reviews have been quite harsh. It was not the revolutionary game everyone expected and did not live up to the egregiously high standards that fans expected of it. It’s a high budget game but it does not reflect that high budget. All the criticisms aside, the story and the characters are truly wonderful and they managed to make the world of the Star Wars underground come to life. The environment modeling is truly a work of art and really draws the player into the world. If you’re a Star Wars fan, this game will definitely pull on your heart strings.
So, should you buy the game? If you aren’t a huge Star Wars fan, probably not. However, if you are a big Star Wars enjoyer then maybe. You should wait a bit for all the bugs and issues to get sorted out in future updates before buying. The game is definitely not worth the $60 it’s selling for, but if you wait for it to go on sale it could definitely be worth it.
