Article: Star Wars Hits Big at the Emmys this Year

Star Wars Hits Big at the Emmys this Year

Star Wars Hits Big at the Emmys this Year

Though the big Emmy awards ceremony doesn’t air until January 15th, the Creative Arts Emmy Awards were just announced. Normally the Emmys air in September but due to the Writers and Actors strike they were postponed.
Due to the fact that there are so many awards the Emmys are broken up into three nights: Two creative arts Emmy nights, which were held this past weekend, and the 75th Primetime Emmys, which are being held on January 15th.

This weekend performers Lateef Crowder, Paul Darnell, JJ Dashnaw, and Ryan Ryusaki took home the Emmy for Outstanding Stunt Performance for their work on “Chapter 24: The Return.” This is the 15th Emmy that The Mandalorian has taken home and the second one in this category. Their contenders this year were Stranger Things and FBI: Most Wanted.

The Mandalorian was also nominated for a number of other awards this year including Outstanding Cinematography for Half-Hour Series, Outstanding Fantasy/Sci-Fi Costumes, Outstanding Period and/or Character Hairstyling, Outstanding Period and/or Character Makeup (Non-Prosthetic), Outstanding Sound Editing for Half-Hour Series, Outstanding Sound Mixing for Half-Hour Series, Outstanding Visual Effects, and Outstanding Stunt Coordination. Despite the impressive number of nominations The Mandalorian only managed to take home one Emmy.

The Mandalorian will not be appearing at the televised Emmy show as all their categories have already been announced, however Star Wars will still have a presence at the awards. Andor is nominated for eight awards: Outstanding Cinematography For A Series (One Hour), Outstanding Directing For A Drama Series, Outstanding Music Composition For A Series (Original Dramatic Score), Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music, Outstanding Sound Editing For A Comedy Or Drama Series (One Hour), Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series, and Outstanding Drama Series. Obi Wan Kenobi will also be appearing at the televised Emmy awards as they have been nominated for Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series.
January 15th will be a big night for Star Wars so let’s hope for the best. May the force be with them.
