Biography:
Kanan Jarus, born Caleb Dume, was a force sensitive human male born on Coruscant. Not much is known about his life before Order 66 other than the fact that he was trained as a Jedi under his master Depa Billaba. During Order 66, Billaba sacrificed herself in order for Caleb to escape. For a long while after Order 66, Caleb was in hiding, taking on the name Kanan Jarrus, and abandoning the ways of the Jedi. However, after working with the rebel Hera Syndulla he decided to join her Rebel Cell and return to the ways of a Jedi.
While working with Hera, Kanan met Sabine Wren and Garazeb Orrelios. Together the four of them formed the crew of the Ghost and fought together to take down the empire. While on a mission on Lothal, Kanan met a young boy named Ezra Bridger. Sensing Ezra’s force sensitivity, Kanan agreed to take him on as a padawan, despite having never completed Jedi training himself. The pair grew as Jedi together, taking down inquisitors and Stormtroopers alike. However, after a fateful night on Malachor, when the Sith Lord Darth Maul blinded Kanan, he once again gave up the ways of the Jedi.
After months of mourning his sight Kanan met the mysterious force sensitive being Bendu, who taught Kanan how to see through the force. With his sight somewhat returned, Kanan restored his frayed relationship with Ezra and they once again began taking down the empire. He taught Sabine Wren how to wield the Dark Saber and fought numerous enemies including the infamous Grand Admiral Thrawn and Darth Maul.
Sadly, Kanan Jarus died protecting his friends during the battle for Lothal. Following his death he became a part of the Cosmic Force, manifesting as a huge loth-wolf named Dume, which appeared to Ezra several times.
Lightsaber:
Kanan wielded a blue bladed lightsaber which he constructed while he was a Jedi padawan studying under Depa Billaba. He abandoned his lightsaber after Order 66 however once he joined the rebellion he picked up his lightsaber once again, modifying it to make it easier to hide. Kanan’s lightsaber splits in 2 so that he can easily hide it in two pockets. When he wants to wield it, he has to connect the two parts and then turn it on.
Fighting Style:
Kanan Jarus wields lightsaber form III. Form III emphasizes close quarters fighting. However, later in his life, Jarus also began to use form V to deflect blaster fire. Kanan was known to favor reverse grip. He was also capable of dual wielding, using the style of Jar'Kai.
