All the Details of the New Star Wars Films Coming Around the Corner

It’s that time of year again. When we all emerge from our den of gaming, cosplay tournaments, and lightsaber dueling clubs to discuss the latest announcements from Disney and Star Wars. The recent reports from Star Wars Celebration 2023 included all kinds of new projects, including three new movies and a ton of streaming options.

From the exciting new movie based on Rey to the Ahsoka series, we have a quick overview of what you can expect and when it is scheduled to run. So, let’s jump into all the great details without wasting another moment.

3 New Star Wars Movies

If you thought the Skywalker saga was over, you really don’t understand the lengths Disney will go to for a sure bet. We are likely to see three more episodes with next to no details about what they contain. Rumor has it these are in the vein of the Patty Jenkins projects that have been repeatedly delayed, but the team behind Disney is keeping closed-lipped for now. All we do know is the potential release dates of December 22, 2023, December 19, 2025, and December 17, 2027.

New Rey Movie

Rey was a smash hit throughout the most recent trilogy and is set to reprise her role in a new film set after The Rise of Skywalker. The basic idea is Rey will be rebuilding the Jedi Order in the new image she imagines, and the project is meant to be directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. That is the same director that handled the Ms. Marvel series, episodes 4 and 5. There is no current release date for this movie, but if you watch Daisy Ridley’s Instagram, you’ll likely see a hint.

Star Wars Ancient Movie

This is a concept that is thrilling us at Sabers Pro because it means plenty of new source material for inspiration when building our custom lightsabers. James Mangold (Indiana Jones 5) is set to direct a new film set thousands of years in the past and focusing on the idea of the first Jedi knight. In this film, we will learn the origins of the Force and how it becomes movable by Jedi.

“Cinematic Event” Film

Dave Filoni has been tasked with combining the live-action series of The Mandalorian, Ahsoka, and The Book of Boba Fett into a new film set to take place between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. This will hopefully tie up many of the plot holes fans have been pointing out for years.

Other Film Rumors

The rest of what we know right now is only at the rumor level. Taika Waititi is supposedly co-writing a script with Krysty Wilson-Cairns based on the idea of expanding the Star Wars universe into places and creatures we have never seen.

Shawn Levy is hoping to craft a new and exciting film that flips Star Wars on its head, but not until after Deadpool 3 and Stranger Things 5 have entirely wrapped up. Seeing how funny and irreverent this filmmaker is, we think this a wise choice by Kathleen Kennedy.

Of course, there is the rumor that will never die concerning The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson getting his own standalone trilogy. Unfortunately, the fact that this is still happening is up in the air. It seems like every month, a new reputable source flips the switch on whether it is green-lit or not.

What About Streaming?

For all of your Disney Plus fans in our reading audience, don’t worry. Star Wars is unleashing a tidal wave of new content sure to delight every fan regardless of age, favorite character, or whether or not you think the original series was a space western. Some of the highlights include:

  • Star Wars Visions, Vol. 2 (May 4, 2023)
  • Ahsoka Live Action Series (August 2023)
  • Skeleton Crew – this will be Jude Law starring in a film that takes the idea of The Goonies and plasters Star Wars into the plot. (2023)
  • Andor Season 2 (2024)
  • The Acolyte (2024) – Set a hundred years before The Phantom Menace and will focus on the story of the Sith.
  • Tales of the Jedi Season 2 (Unknown)
  • A Droid Story (Unknown) – You guessed it, a new droid to market that is taken under the golden wings of C-3PO and R2-D2.
  • Lando (Unknown) – Hopefully, with Donald Glover at the helm.

As you can imagine, that is a jam-packed docket of new properties soon to grace every sized screen. The details are still a little vague on most, but it shows Disney has 100% faith behind the franchise and its ability to stretch out and expand into new fandoms.

We at SabersPro say, “Bring it on!” All that new content is perfect for us to design captivating neopixel and baselit sabers for cosplayers, collectors, and duelists alike. Be sure to check out our online store for the best new sabers to add to your growing set.
